and the Digital Cinemas Network in Germany.

Emotional disorders and suicide are still taboo topics in our society. The afflicted and their loved ones are almost always confronted by a wall of silence - emotional disorders are just not talked about. Nevertheless, such problems are certainly not uncommon. Every third European lives through some sort of mental crisis in his or her lifetime. 40% of those affected may have to deal with a longterm, chronic affliction.
In cooperation with the Leipzig-based not-for-profit organization Irrsinning Menschlich e.V., EYZ and the nationwide film festival AUSNAHME|ZUSTAND  ("state of emergency") want to create a platform for open discussion of emotional disorders. Eight documentaries offer varying approaches and discuss different aspects of mental illness. They appeal for dialogue and understanding and against discrimination and marginalization or ostracization of those dealing with emotional disorders.
